Our Current Conditions
The Sheffield-Sheffield Lake Board of Education has long been concerned about the future of our aging buildings. A complete facility assessment was performed by the Ohio School Facilities Commission and through a series of site visits; architectural surveys; and staff and student meetings, a report was issued that determined our buildings are inadequate to meet today’s instructional programs for PK-12 education. The report also indicated that the cost to renovate our existing facilities was too high and that replacement was the most economical option for the tax payers of the district. |

Scope of the Project - Phase I
Build a new 7-12 Middle-High School What is the cost? Not as much as you think. Phase I is estimated to be $31 million. With an interest rate of 4.45% over 34 years the ballot millage is 4.94. The cost to homeowners under age 65 is shown below. Appraised Value.
Any citizen over 65 years of age who applies for the additional homestead exemption will have $25,000 deducted from the value of their property. For example, if your house is valued at $100,000, the auditor will deduct $25,000 from the total taxable property valuation. You would then be taxed on $75,000 and pay $9.00 per month additional property tax. Questions? Your comments and questions are welcome. Please contact: Will Folger, Superintendent
